66 headlight bucket attachments
2 Attachment(s)
A couple of picts of the headlight bucket/holder/adjuster into the grill, near as I can remember, these were held in with 4 rivets. Assembly manual has a rivet holding this together. Seems like these being in there firm is imperative as this is the main attachment point for the grill to the front fascia behind it, would bolts and washers be a better idea than a good steel pop rivet?I doubt I'll use a blind rivet and peen it over....

Re: 66 headlight bucket attachments
I will be using stainless #10 screws with lock nuts when I assemble mine.
But the assembly attaches to the truck from inside the front wheel well with fasteners as I believe you have indicated. |
Re: 66 headlight bucket attachments
That's kind of where I was heading to as well with the #10's, but I swear these things were just lightly riveted in when I took it apart. One side of the grill only had 3 holes drilled for the attachment points from the factory...so it always had one wonky headlight that never quite stayed adjusted...

Yes they were riveted.

Oh man! That's the money picture! Also shows the 2 interior tabs are one above/one below the grill piece! Big time thanks!

Re: 66 headlight bucket attachments
I did mine with #10 bolts/washers/nuts nearly 25 years ago. Never had any issues with mine. That picture of the OE rivets is worth its wait and is shows how it goes together. You can't get the bracket in the grill UNDER all 4 tabs. One has to be under the bracket and that is the factory way.
