'65 with drum brakes seeks attractive 4" front end drop
Hello All,
Looking to drop my '65 c10 front end 3.5" or 4" and I need some advice. I've been reading threads on here for hours and I'm getting lots of conflicting information. How are you successfully dropping your 60-66 front ends? I need to do it without converting to disc brakes in the front (wheels are drum only). 2.5" drop spindles and 2" springs would be ideal, but I believe spindles are out of the question because of the drums brakes, correct? My concerns are clearance issues inside my stock inner fender and drivability. Here are my stats: 236 75/R15 tires Drum Brakes 15x6" steel wheels with 3.625" backspacing Thanks a million in advance! |

I just dropped the front of our '66 c10 yesterday 3" with cutting 1.5 coils off the front coil springs. Still running drums, stock wheels. Truck still rides good. Installed Jeep YJ springs in rear to achieve 5" of drop. I don't know if I would try for 4". You may hit bump stop or bottom out depending on road surface.

if You cut the springs or buy the 4 inch drop coils for the front, you compromise suspension geometry big time! You need the drop spindles for complete safe control and to avoid bumpsteer. Cutting the springs in the rear looses the ability to keep the spring on the perch of the trailing arm.... I have done this and do not recommend. Check CPP or Classic Performance Products, Early Classic Enterprises for the correct drop equipment.... I think there is a drop spindle out there for use with drums but only one company makes it....
