in bed fuel filler ideas
I have a rear mounted fuel tank with the filler neck in the floor of my box. I have the the small pop up filler that comes from lmc that you have to unscrew, but I'm short and have trouble with my hands so using it is pretty much impossible for me.
I was thinking of some type of flip up door I know I saw one somewhere but I cant remember where, what are you guys using id like to get some ideas maybe something like a door that pops open with a stant gas cap you put the nozzle in. show me what you are using |

Shame you didn't follow through with making a kit. I would be interested in that. Unfortunately I was not born with any sheet metal skills so would probably make more of a mess than anything good...
Anyway back to the question for the post. I have a fuel cell in the rear between frame rails and behind the differential. There is a flap cut in the bed and the filler is centered. It is fairlyeasy to reach without lowering the tailgate. If you are interested in this set up, I can take a couple pictures and measurements. |

Here are some pictures of the set up in my 72. Sorry for the lack of quality. I am not a photographer...
The hole is 8" X 8" and is centered about 6" from the tailgate. Since the truck is lowered about 6" it is very easy to reach over the tailgate in order to get to it. The flap over the hole uses a dzus to hold it down. The picture of the fuel cell shows how it mounts to the frame with tabs. |
