A/C on a 235

Does anybody have AC on tearer 235? Texas weather is keeps me from driving my truck and I am thinking about adding AC. Any advice, recomendations and don't will be appreciated. I found a Vintage air kit for the 235 for $1400.

Although I did not add A/C on my stovebolt 6, I did retrofit for power steering. I used a bracket from Davis Speed Equip to run the pump. Davis had various brackets to run A/C, P/S and/or alternators, etc. on your engine:

In the late 70's I added an after market under dash unit to my truck. It came out of a 65 Impala. I made a bracket that bolted on the passenger side of the engine using some existing tapped bosses. Only issue I had was the way I had it configured when the compressor rotated down from gravity and vibration it loosened the belt. I spent a lot of time trying to keep it tight.

It put quite a load on the engine, in most case when climbing long hills I would need to turn it off. Not as bad as the AC I had on a 40 horse VW, but it made a difference. Around town was not an issue and never had any cooling issues.

I had to find a dual belt crank pulley. Found out that big trucks had them for power steering. I kept it when I junked the engine and would part with it.

Bringing this thread back from the dead - does anyone know if the dual groove harmonic balancer from a 292 will fit on a 235? I want to install Vintage Air in my truck, it has a 235 out of a 1960 truck. Vintage Air sells a dual groove balancer for $$$ and the 292 ones are about half the price.
