I would also like to know the answer to this. It seems steel wool may do a good job of it, but I have not tried yet.

There is a way. Use the search at the top of the page, and search grill surround restoration. The process would be the same. It starts with stripping all the anodizing off with oven cleaner, then sanding with finer sand paper, then polish with mag polish. The only issue is that the aluminum is now uncoated.
I was wondering if they could be powder coated with clear before the black is painted.
Then it comes back to price of restoration/powder coating, as compared to buying new.
I'm eventually going to try the resto method, since my truck will probably never be a show truck. :lol:
