91 suburban gauge cluster temperature sender
I'm getting ready to drill and tap my passenger side head on my 5.3 and have a couple questions. I'm going to be using a 91 suburban cluster on my 78 Silverado.
Do I get a temperature sending unit for a 91 suburban or 78 Silverado? What size drill and tap do I need to buy? I've heard of people re threading the sender. Does any 1 know where I can get the sender re threaded for the LS head? Any help greatly appreciated. |
Re: 91 suburban gauge cluster temperature sender
The sender has to match the gauge to read properly..I brought the sender for my 84 gauge to a local machine shop and they only charged me $10.00

Re: 91 suburban gauge cluster temperature sender
You can use a 3 wire camaro ls1 sender. It replaces the original truck 2 wire sender.

Thank you Rich.
Mario, let me see if I'm understanding this correctly. I can get a 3 wire sender and pigtail to eliminate having to drill and tap my passinger side head? I'm assuming the 3rd wire goes to my gauge? Would it read correctly? Would you happen to have part numbers? |

Everything you should need is there. If you have a extra engine harness with a 3 wire oul pressure sensor wire you can use that plug on the tempature sending unit. |
Re: 91 suburban gauge cluster temperature sender
Yes you remove the existing 2 wire and use the 3 wire sending unit in place of the 2 wire. the extra wire is for your gauge should be a green wire in your existing harness.
