Kick panel vents, needs rubber replaced

Has anyone taken there's apart and replaced the rubber? What did you use as far as rubber and rivets. Could the rivets be replaced with small screws and lock nuts? Thanks, Nate

Classic industries and the other suppliers have the rivets and the replacement rubber, classic also has a bolt in replacement unit. or yes you can use machine screws and nuts if you don't care about looking original

Long pop rivets will also work, I used 3/32 silicone sheet, cut pattern from old crinkled original.

I am almost positive there is a thread on how to do this, I just cannot find it. It had details with pictures IIRC. Will keep looking...

I'll check them out, I couldn't locate anything at a few places.

LMC has seal kit for about $5.00 or a complete vent for $50.00.

Re: Kick panel vents, needs rubber replaced

I have done the replacement and it is straight forward. My WMB thread has a write up on it on page 10 post 232. There also is a thread that was posted a couple of months ago about how to make your own seals instead of buying the repop kit. I had already spent my $4 on the kit and it wasn't worth the trouble to return them for a $2.50 or so savings.
Good luck and enjoy the project.

For 6.00 I don't see it being worth the aggravation to make your own unless you just have material laying around that will work, but that is just my .02
