Driveshafts
I have a 1979 Chevy k20 long bed that came with a turbo 350 and 203 transfer case. I'm changing over to a sm465 and 205 transfer case. I know the driveshafts mostly won't work. I'm not having any luck finding any in a junkyard. Any help would be great.

Re: Driveshafts
Probably better to ask over on the 73/80 something board. Several 4x guys there.

Re: Driveshafts
Yeah I just realized I posted in the wrong year. Sorry about that. I was trying to delete post but not completely sure how.

Re: Driveshafts
Look at Southwest Speed. I have bought two new shafts from them with good results

Re: Driveshafts
I'd be looking for the closest good driveshaft shop that is used to dealing with the 4x4 guys.
You can do the wrecking yard thing and try to mix and match and most likely get away with the front half of a driveshaft that goes with the 205 transfer or take a whole lot less time and go to a driveshaft shop and have them build you the front half. You might also want to look on http://www.pirate4x4.com/welcome1.php When it comes to changing stuff around on 4x4 rigs the members on there have a lot of knowledge. |
Re: Driveshafts
Looks like the front driveshaft with the manual is shorter according to the offerings from Rock Auto.
https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...ive+shaft,2308 Wait several seconds for that to load as it takes a bit to get the info up. They don't show the other shafts though. |
