Front suspension question
I have a 1963 Chevy, and I am wanted to put airbags on it at some point. I can buy a 83 Chevy 2 wheel drive front crossmember. My question is: is it worth $100 or so to buy this? Or can I do everything I want to do with the original one? I'm cheap, so that comes into play as well.

Re: Front suspension question
It allows you to put disc brakes in but you will need all of the steering components to be able to use it. Makes for a smooth ride also.

Re: Front suspension question
If you are also going with dropped spindles there isn't much point in going with a later model suspension unless you prefer the rubber control arm bushings as I do. If you are going to stay with stock height spindles, then yes the '83 front suspension would be a good idea.

Re: Front suspension question
I want to do drop spindles, but also want the rubber bushings for the smother ride. I guess there are other Control Arms out there that will fit on the stock crossmember. I will look, but I am guessing there is not much need to spend the money on the 83.

Re: Front suspension question
I'm kind of in the same place. I have a 63 C20 that I want to lower. I'm looking into a mid 80's parts truck though. I need brakes and a booster and wouldn't mind power steering. Might even switch out the rear end.
