I guess I'm far enough along to start a build page as I'm finding it harder to look things up!!!
I was given a '55 GMC with the understanding that I would eventually get it back on the road...

But then I came across the '56 Chevy big rear window...

Ok, so which one will you build? BOTH are big window cabs. What's the plan?

Dan, the '56 is first, got a medium fortune in it now, but the last couple months it's been tempting to take the 283 and turbo 350 that I took out of the '56 and put in the GMC along with glass just to be able to drive one!!! How's that 8.8 working out???

After talking to the body shop that's coaching me, I asked if it was cheaper to rebuild the cab or by a remanufactured one... so I did... but I wouldn't do it again!

20" tires wouldn't work for what I wanted... start wire harness install and gauges just to see.

Well, I can't really say from a performance standpoint. The truck gets fired probably Mon or Tues for the first time. But the rearend fit well. I had the flanges welded/re-drilled to have matching 5x4.75 lug pattern all around. And the ratio was waay too high (low numerically) in the 2.50's so we changed to 3.73's. I guess I'll find out soon. I'll let you know if there's anything of concern.
