heater core
 
seen that they make a heater core for non a/c in aluminum or brass. which is better? Any body know?

I'd stick with brass. Its most likely all brazed together. Odds are that the aluminum one has epoxy holding the tanks to the core. The epoxy has a tendency to crack over time.

Any of the aluminum ones I have seen, the end tanks have squared off corners meaning they don't fit the brackets that screw in to the heater box very well at all.
The factory brass ones, the tank ends have rounded corners to fit those brackets.
