3/4 tons of fun....

This is not a "Pars for sale" post. That will be later. I just wanted to brag. One of my customers told me about this fine example of a old work truck and I just had to go and get it. It is a 68 C20 with a 307 and a factory four speed transmission. The color is very odd, seen a lot of Fords this color, but not familiar with it on the Chevrolet trucks. I really dig the owners name painted on the bed,, potential wall art.....

Not for me, and there is a title issue, but I sure like the color... The wheels are 17 inch if i am not mistaken, split rings.

Ah, bummer. And yes, it's rough, probably more $ in parting it, true. Still a very cool find.

Shame about the title issue. That will make a fine parts truck.

Cool truck. Are the 17" rims worth anything even though they are split rims?

No tire shops around here will touch them...

If you part it out, I would be interested in the heater box under the dash. The flap in my box that directs the air doesn't work.

Let me know.

They have a limited value to restoration guys or folks that love the tall skinny wheels. But they have to be fairly rust free and usually you have to go to a truck tire shop to get them serviced these days. Although back in the day I remember seeing guys change tires with nothing more than big hammers, pry bars and a good sized chunk of chain. When your thirty miles from the nearest town you do what you have to.
There is also a limited selection of tires available these days for them.

Not just a fine example, it's an authentic example of an unmolested '68 C 20. Some people see parts, I see a piece of Americana dissappearing.

I will not argue that point with you, we are in agreement on these trucks disappearing. Now, with that being said, I think it is much more useful to take the time and judiciously remove and recycle with other truck enthusiasts, the still serviceable parts this truck has to offer. If there was not a HUGE paperwork issue, i would be all for tuning it up and using the piss out of it as it was designed for, but that is not the case. Or, we can just call the scrappers and it can be crushed. I like the way i do them better than that last idea.
