Oil Pressure Line Clips

Anybody know what the clips that hold the oil line down the firewall look like or where I could find some? I figure they are the same for all years but this one is for a 66.

Thanks!

Larry

I have like that, that i just removed. It just went from the back of the block to a hole in the fire wall.

I looked in the AIM and found the clips. There are two of them that look like they correspond to the location of the two 1/4" holes in my firewall. I could only find an illustration for the six cylinder so I'm not positive how the V8 is configured. Part #3771077.

The only place I could find them was at Corvette Central (http://http://www.parts123.com/corve...50b&ukey=34290)They describe it as 1/4" brake line clip which is much larger than the 1/8" oil line.

I don't think the V8 oil pressure line used any of those clips. The V8 line is much shorter than the 6-cyl oil line so it doesn't need to be clipped to the firewall.

The V8 line does have a coiled section near the engine to reduce stress / fatigue from engine movement. But from there up, it's pretty much a straight run up to the union fitting that's just a few inches away from the firewall grommet.

I didn't know about the coiled section. Mine has the steel line which is pretty much a straight shot and I assumed it was original. I don't remember seeing any repos of the line. I might see what's out there. I suppose it's possible the assy line workers hand-formed the line during installation.

I'm currently looking at "The 1960 - 1966 Chevrolet & GMC Pickups Factory Correct Restoration Thread" thread to see if I can catch a glimpse of how it looks.

It's possible that the coiled section was something GM added in the later years. I know it's shown in the 67-72 AIM.

We just finished up an engine swap in Dad's 66 (went from the factory 283 to a 327) and that had the coiled section in the steel oil line. However, I converted this truck over from a warning light cluster to factory gauges years ago using parts that my uncle (the previous owner) had collected from junkyards. So it's entirely possible that he got the oil line out of a later year GM truck.

Was it a V8?

I was also mistaken on the engine I said earlier. The AIM shows a V8 but it's a W block. The oil pressure fitting is down by the oil filter hence the need for both clips.

I need to find a pic or drawing for a SBC.

And, my oil line probably isn't original as it doesn't have the union at the firewall hole.

Yes a V8 in my oil line was in the back by my distributor

Here is a scan of the drawing from the 67-72 AIM. I believe the 66 small block V8 oil line is pretty much the same.
