1972 K-10 Score - finally! *updated*
2 Attachment(s)
I got a lead on this truck back in January and was stoked to go check it out. Owner wasn't home so I got his number from a neighbor who was outside. 2012 tag and junk in the bed so that's a good sign! I called the guy and he said it was supposed to be a father-son project but the son had lost interest. For sale, I asked? He said he probably would sell it, he'd let me know. So I wait...... After a few months of hearing nothing, I stopped by his house and talked to him there. Now he says he's pretty sure he's going to sell, but he had promised another guy that if he ever sold it that he'd get first shot. Feeling deflated now! So another few months go by and I reach out to him again. He said the other guy is having trouble coming up with the $$. I told him I had CASH today!! Now he's not even sure what to ask for it - "let me think about it" he says. Agh, this is killing me! Fast forward to yesterday - I finally get the call I've been waiting for! He priced it! Visited the bank first thing this morning and drove her home. I've never had a deal take so long.
The details - 1972 K-10 Cheyenne Super. 350, 4 speed, posi. Non-A/C truck. Bought new in San Francisco and driven to Alabama in early 2000's. |

Very cool. What are your plans for it?

Re: 1972 K-10 Score - finally!
I'm digging that!!!!
Persistence pays I kept the gentleman's phone # on my big block super for 7 or 8 years (before it paid off) Now, your going to have to choose, which truck to do first Congrats |
Re: 1972 K-10 Score - finally!
4X4 rally wheels going on this week, thinking about white paint for cab top and between the trim, then I'm just going to drive it!

Welcome to the dark olive Cheyenne Super 4x4 club!
It's not too late for steelies, PO3s, and leaving that solid dark olive paint intact;) Ha, just kidding, I might be a little biased... Would love to see the SPID. Wondering if it came with PO3s or PO1s? Either woukd look great. And so will square rallies. Congrats on a great find and for having the patience to wait it out. |
Re: 1972 K-10 Score - finally!
Congratulations! That is a good looking truck. I commend you on your patience. I'm still in the middle of my search, and it can be trying at times. Were you ever tempted to buy a truck that wasn't exactly what you wanted?

Sweet. Congratulations. Moral of the story is to keep trying and don't get too hung up on "gotta have it today or forget it" mentality.
Sometimes it takes a while and sometimes it falls in your lap when you are not even looking. I just bought a 71 GMC 3/4ton that could be your trucks cousin. |

A few more pics. SPID didn't have protective clear overlay, so it's weathered a little. Pretty low option Super, doesn't even look like it came with hubcaps. As a wheel option, I do have some 8" steelies or 8" ralleys.

Re: 1972 K-10 Score - finally!
Nice! It's like a manual transmission, green version of my Super! I dig it. Have fun!

Re: 1972 K-10 Score - finally!
I just noticed the spid doesn't list power steering? Does it have it?

Re: 1972 K-10 Score - finally!
Deals can be made if you have one (or more) of these things going in your favor:
1. Right-place, right-time. 2. Persistance 3. CASH on hand and the ability to move quickly. Every project vehicle I have ever purchased, I paid less than $1,000 cash even though they were worth way more at the time I purchased them. The trick is you can't be in a hurry and you have to be patent . . . very patent. Awesome story, congrats on the new rig. :chevy: |

Whoever started scraping at that spid Was unsuccessful It doesn't look like it has the plastic tape over the paper? That truck was from Marin county Right near me Glad it found a good home I'd buff it out Put those rough steelies on it With Some banged up dog dish caps A new seat cover Then Hit the road 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎 |
