Skid Plates for GMC? 4x4 or 2wd...
I think I saw somewhere on here that GMC's had a skid plate under the radiator. Is that right?
And if they do, was it '60-'62 torsion-bar tucks, '63-66 trucks, 1/2-ton or 3/4-ton and heavier? Did they have any for 4x4 trucks? I'm going to start a '62 K10 next spring, and would like to put any factory heavy-duty parts on it. There's a GMC 1-ton (knee-knocker cab, but don't know the year) in the bone yard with dual wheels, and another '61 C-40 Chevy flat bed in the same yard. Would either of them have the skid plate I saw here? -Brad |

Re: Skid Plates for GMC? 4x4 or 2wd...
Where did it actually attach?
I like the idea of something to help keep sticks from poking through the radiator. Some of the abandoned fields we hunt in are overgrown with saplings, and some of the woods have places where limbs and such could get kicked up. "There's no kill like overkill" says I! If I can protect some pieces and parts, I'll do it. |

Re: Skid Plates for GMC? 4x4 or 2wd...
If you've got it, and would like to part with it, let me know. It's a little thing/detail, but combined with the hard upper radiator hose from the factory, and the hard lower hose I'm going to fabricate, the factory tow hooks, factory grill guard, PTO winch, and proper skid plates I'll make to protect the engine, trans and T-case, that radiator tank guard will fit the truck well.
