66 k20
Picked this up Saturday at a farm auction. It's rough, has a small block of unknown size or condition, power brakes that appear to be factory, a PTO Braden winch and was cheap enough I couldn't let it get away. Its the first 64-66 K truck I've had. I do have a correct bed to put on it. For now the plan is to get it running and driving over the winter and go from there.

Re: 66 k20
Nice enjoy it.

Re: 66 k20
Congrats!!
An original K20 is hard to come by, I rarely see k10s around, let alone a k20! Have fun with it, and when/if you get bored of it, you won't have trouble selling it! |
Re: 66 k20
Nice! Reminds me of that movie "Man Without A Face". I'm In!

Re: 66 k20
Factory windshield washers, engine appears to be early `70`s by the valve covers and the quadrajet, just guessing or a top end change...sweet truck.

Re: 66 k20
Thanks everyone. I was thinking the same thing about the engine, Rich. I did put a wrench on it and it spun. I was afraid it was locked up so that's a bit more encouraging. It looks like that's a factory brake booster also. According to my fsm I'm thinking that's a bendix booster. Does anyone know if parts are still available for that? My NAPA app didn't find anything but that doesn't always mean much. Also is that the same master cylinder as non power brake trucks?

I couldn't stand looking at that 67-72 bed any longer so I threw one on I had laying around. Please excuse the poor picture quality I keep forgetting it's fall and getting dark at 6:30 when it still 85 during the day here 🙄

Re: 66 k20
Something about that style truck in 4x4 is just kickin! Would have been cool if they came with 409's. Or that was an option. I think that would look dang cool under that hood. Jealous either way.

Jdl,
Great find on your K truck, and saving it. Shoulder belt nut installed, first two photos of 66' C20. The black plastic button is what factory install in the nut. The reason posted photos is you can see what looks like same fastener in Jdl’s interior truck photo above. Asked in PM if it has the shoulder belts. And to get another production date, for this St. Louis built Truck. Another member previously found that later 66’ Fremont and St Louis built trucks have fasteners for shoulder belts. Les |
Re: 66 k20
i havent seen or heard of shoulder belts in these trucks, maybe?
|
Re: 66 k20
I had a 66 Chevelle and read the later 66 had shoulder belt anchors. Chances are later 66 trucks were the same.
|
Re: 66 k20
I don’t think so, shoulder belts weren’t required in trucks until
1968. |

Re: 66 k20
Nice truck. Not many original 3/4 tons left. Hard to tell from pictures, but are those Cutlas hubs? That is whats on my truck, never seen any others. Have fun with your new toy, Tom
