500 caddy

I'm getting ready to get a 500 caddy for my 67 and i was wondering if anyone knew what headers might fit in there.

crazy longhorn 10-30-2003 12:06 AM

. http://www.500cid.com/mts/info.htm You wont find headers for that app, but I beleieve these guys sell a Cad flange with short tubes welded in......then cut the flanges off a set of BB truck headers & crank up the welder. Good luck, crazyL:burnout:

Longhorn Man 10-30-2003 12:16 AM

That's how it goes, get big block headers for the chassis, then the flange kit, then pay some one to weld it up, then, since you already have 400+ in them, you may as well go the extra mile and get them ceramic coated...
You wouldn't happen to have a passenger side manifold to sell off that caddy motor would you?

highboy_04 10-30-2003 12:19 AM

i dont have one off that motor but my friend has a 472(i think thats what it is) that he would probably sell the manifold off of.

Longhorn Man 10-30-2003 01:45 AM

If you would be so kind to look into that for me, I'd apreciate it.
I need one with good studs. Have the cash...looking to wheel and deal on this. I need it pretty bad.
Hook me up with a good price, and I can get you a finder's fee.

Oh, and it doesn't matter what car it came out of, any model will do for the passenger side.

highboy_04 10-31-2003 01:01 AM

the car is a 69 eldorado. if you figure out what the shipping would be from 67492 then you could just have it for whatever the shipping would be.

Longhorn Man 10-31-2003 11:50 AM

PM being sent in a min.

highboy_04 10-31-2003 12:02 PM

also when i pick up the motor on saturday what else should i grab from the car that i might need.

Longhorn Man 10-31-2003 12:45 PM

One thing I have found that i love as a swap part from a Caddy, if it is from the 60's to mid 70's, look at the rear view mirror. It is way better than anything ever installed on our trucks, and the mirror head will bolt directly onto our arm. (asuming you are not working on a 72 truck)
Other than that...nothing I can really think of.

crazy longhorn 10-31-2003 06:10 PM

The Eldo manifolds route the exhaust over the frame guys. for under chassis routing on exhaust , you need a set from a Fleetwood or a Deville......crazyL:burnout:

Hey guys, I have been keeping this a secret because I was considering doing a 500 caddi engine in one of my trucks. My neighbor has a 78 Caddi with a 500ci. engine for sale for $800.00. The car only has 70,000 or 80,000 origanal miles on it and runs great!! This car has no rust and exelent interior also. You could take it cross country if you wanted. I can get more information on it if you like. I had to take the pictures from across the fence so they are not verry good. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Another pic....

crazy longhorn 10-31-2003 07:46 PM

check the yr on that Wes, 76 was the last of the 500's.....a solid 425 would still be a good swap tho. crazyL:burnout:

lux hauler 10-31-2003 07:54 PM

It's kinda hard to tell from the picture but it looks like it might be a 75 or 76 Coupe.

BTW.....The passenger side manifold routing was the same for all 472/500 cars....even the Eldo. The drivers side was the one that was different. The one on the FWD had a funky turn-out dump.

Here's a picture of the three styles that were used.
The top one is the RWD drivers side. Middle is FWD/RWD passenger side. The bottom one is the FWD drivers side.

That's a nice one! my 72 has just under 32000 miles on it, and that one looks nicer! Just an interesting side note, the 472 with a good SINGLE exaust with a bigger tail pipe and a Flowmaster has no problems spanking 255/70/15 tires (yes, the do fit with the skirts) for about 2 blocks at a shot. i love my caddy....
