Rattle can color for 66 dash
Added a 66 long fleet C20 to the collection Saturday. One of the things it needs is the dash repainted. Most the paint on the top is gone. There are several threads on the fawn for the rest of the cab but I could not find a recommendation for a close match out of a can for the dash on the 66. So has anyone found something that looks good enough for a unrestored driver?

A friend of mine just used a Krylon flavor that was a pretty close match. I'm not sure exactly the name, but maybe check them out.

Try this. This a Rattle can solution recommended by one our members.

One more, darker from Yelmer. DDL -Tcp22743 Dark Fawn Poly w texture

The two listed are both a match for the light fawn. And the TCP color is close but not a rattle can. I just might take my color charts and go shopping.

The Krylon above is a dead ringer for all but the textured dash.

Re: Rattle can color for 66 dash
There are many threads on colors that work well for spraying the inside. The Nissan sunlit sand has been used by several folks and really looks good. The 66 dash color is darker than the other years and that TCP color that Yelmer used does look good. For the truck I am working on the inside does not look bad except for the doors and the dash. I really want to keep the original feel to this one. Plan is to try and remove what ever is on the doors and to redo the dash. I have they paint color pages in really good shape that were done in 1968. I plan to take them with me this weekend and hit Lowes, Home Depot and Michaels and see what I can find. We have all three in the same shopping center and that make the hunt easy.
I will post what I find. Jimmy |
Re: Rattle can color for 66 dash
Assuming your '66 has the "brown" (or maybe it was called saddle?) dash color, my local auto paint shop was able to mix the original color in a rattle can for me. It was ~$25 per can, but luckily you don't need much to do just the dash.

Re: Rattle can color for 66 dash
Went to Michaels yesterday to see if they had the Krylon and they had closed up. So looks like that may have to get ordered online. Going paint shopping tomorrow and see what I can find. My 66 does have the dark dash.

I have some stuff to try and have just not had time to get it tested. Yard work is killing my truck time. Damned leaves!
