Lower moulding install on my 71 Fleetside?
So i just purchased new lower mouldings for my 71. The factory ones look ok but to make the exterior as nice as i can that really is the only thing left that has not been replaced. so i am looking at the truck and i don't think its going to be all that easy .To replace the the two small forward front fender pieces it looks like I have to at least take the inner fender loose to get to the backside of those? also the two small corner cab pieces it looks like the gas tank is in the way so do i have to remove it or ? Just looking for assistance and hopefully some pointers as to how to do it correctly.? Thanks for the help.

Re: Lower moulding install on my 71 Fleetside?
To replace the 2 front fender pieces you will have to remove the front bumper. You can access the single stud/nut from down inside the fender under the hood just by reaching down....nothing too difficult about it, apart from removing the bumper.
As for the ones on the back of the cab, you have to be patient but if you have some quality small 1/4" socket set pieces (with the swivel ends, etc) you can remove and re-install those pieces. (note the passenger side is quite easy because there is more clearance. The drivers side is trickier, but if your hands aren't that big you might be able to reach down in between the seat belt reel and the gas tank to access the back stud/nuts. Oh....and welcome to the forum!! Coley |

On the driver side cab trim pieces I think removing the the vent below the latch plate gives access for smaller hands. Goodluck!

Re: Lower moulding install on my 71 Fleetside?
I just installed the front fender lower moldings on my 70 GMC. It was much easier just to remove the inner fender wells. I also had to in stall the 2500/V8 fender emblems. There was NO WAY to get to those with out removing the inner fender wells.
