1965 C10 value
 

First, I am new to the 60-66 trucks, I've mainly played around with 73-87s. With that said, I am really digging these trucks now and have been searching for a good driver quality truck, but I don't really know what the current market is for these years.

I have found a 1965 SWB big back window truck for sale. Paint appears to be in good shape ( mild patina) and it is mechanically sound. The original 283 has been freshened up and it has been switched to a 350 auto. No power steering or brakes and it's still drums all around. the guy is asking 11k.

Is this a good deal? Seems a bit high to me.

Without picture's I would say he is High! It doesn't have any expensive upgrades or paint.

Depends on your area and market really.

That combo ( SWB and BBW) isn’t real common. They are definitely worth more than a Long Bed, 3/4 ton or even a stepper.

In my area, that would be a high asking price as well....me personally, I would offer less just because of manual brakes and no power steering. But that’s me.

It also largely depends on how rusty it is. Get down underneath the truck and have a real good look around. Unless you can do it yourself, replacing rusted out body panels on these trucks can get very pricy.

Yes to what TopFuel said. Very hard to find a truck without ANY rust, but if it is limited only in the rear cab corners and front fenders you would be doing OK.....especially being back east. For $11K I would get it up on a lift and check the frame, drive train, and rust issues.

In CA, a short bed, fleet in decent (mostly) unmolested shape would go in that price range.

That seems about right for my area. I just paid $8,250 for my 65. straight 6 with a cam, header and 4 barrel. 4 wheel drums and non power steering. Straight truck with very little rust though.

Looks like 8,000.00 to 9,000.00 truck to me, with mostly original truck

I listed this one last December for $13,800, and sold it for $12,000 to the first guy that called. SWB/BBW, 283/3speed, disc/dropped spindles, new bed floor/strips, all new brakes, all tune up parts new, new radiator and heater core, engine resealed, new water pump, timing chain, starter, battery, alternator, clutch/pressure plate, all hoses, carb was rebuilt, fuel system was all new, all new exhaust, and new tires. The body was kinda rough... a couple small trees had fallen on the bed and cab corner and it had rust in most of the typical places.

Dad sold this one last year for a little more than my blue truck sold for. All stock, 283/3 speed. Brakes all parts to make it reliable were new.

The new owner lowered it, added Vintage Air, power steering, and a 700R4. It's been listed at $18k for awhile and hasn't sold.

The truck in the photo that you posted looks to be pretty straight. If all is good and solid underneath, and the original motor is still there I would say the price isn't that far out of line. Good solid original trucks are getting somewhat harder to find. I'm not a fan of chopped, lowered, or the so called major patina trucks. This one would definitely peaks my interest. A lot of potential there. Good luck

For Virginia if it is a low rust truck thats been about the going rate. The BBW and short box make it a bit harder to find around here. You need to give it a good look over for condition. Depending on the overall condition that will drive the price. There are places to look for rust like the front of the hood, the front of the inner fenders, the bottom of the core support, the rear lower section of the front fenders, the rockers, the bottom of the doors, the rockers, the bottom of the kick panels and the drip rail on the roof.
