Change fuel pump, take the bed off or pull tank from below?
Just wondering, I want to change out the fuel pump in my tank(s). What is the best way to do it?
Dual tanks, 4X4 single cab 1 ton Dually truck. I have a lift in my garage. https://s14.postimg.org/lqosz7bip/D1...E3_BCF9_BB.png |
Re: Change fuel pump, take the bed off or pull tank from below?
I have 6 of these trucks, running and driving.
I do the tanks from underneath. I remove most all the fuel, remove the filler neck, the 8 frame mount bolts and lower it down. The hoses are long enough to reach, but you must disconnect the ground wire at the frame first before lowering. It's tight, but once you've done one,the rest are easy. To raise the bed,it's best to have new bed bolts,as they often break or twist the shoulder out.Much more time consuming to me and there's always the chance of damaging the paint. Mike.:chevy: |

if your tanks have the crash cage around them it'll be way easier to pull the bed...just take everything loose from the bed and use your lift to raise bed ...easy peasy
