Just picked up a NV4500/NP205
I couldnt hold my excitement, I had to let you guys know - I just scored a recently rebuilt nv4500/NP205 combo for $1,100! (both NV4500 and NP205 had just been rebuilt, they have about 9k miles on them)
The guy had an '83 K20 that he put this combo together for. However, after awhile he stopped driving it and his dad wanted the truck back but with the old 4-speed. He decided to sell the combo off before putting the old 465 back in. This is the shortest configuration possible - meaning a round pattern np205, no spacers from AA, and notching the adapter for rail clearance. It also has the AA bellhousing. This will be going in my 1971 shortbed K10 with a 4" lift (originally sm465/np205). I've been doing quite a bit of searching and it seems everyone's application/project is a bit different than mine. I'm trying to find out if I'm going to need to do extensive floor surgery to get it to fit. I have a high hump, and a bench seat. I really don't want to use a body lift to get this to work. Has anyone seen a build thread with a similar application? I found ryanroo's build which shed some light. Re: Just picked up a NV4500/NP205
Nice score for the price! This is the same set up I have in my '71. No body lift nor floor alterations needed for it to fit other than the hole for the shifter is a bit further back on the trans cover.

Re: Just picked up a NV4500/NP205
I installed NV4500 factory bell housing with AA 4 speed T-case. slightly different than yours. Mine fit with high hump just have to relocate the hole for sticks coming through the floor.

Re: Just picked up a NV4500/NP205
Not bad at all. I wonder about the 1st ratio if you know it. Mine is a 96 w/ 5.6 1st. I parted a 91 burb for it's 205 and a 4500. I kept the 205 and sold most of the rest for 700 more than I paid. The parted truck also netted an AA BH and AA iron tailhousing. I gifted myself a planetary doubler to go between the trans and TC, as well as trading even (on pirate4x4.com) for the long input to short and sold the AA spacer.
I basically have no money in a lot of truck gear porn... Still have to get the mess installed, linkages sorted and driveshafts cut/lengthened. |
