Carb. to Hood clearance

I wanted to get a Velocity Stack Air Cleaner which is 10.5" tall.
Want to know if it will fit first. |

I've got the K&N 66-3030 X-Stream filter, which is 5" tall, and it is fairly close to the hood, but fits pretty well with probably 3" of clearance. SBC 350 in an 86'

set a cardboard box ,that's of equal height ,on top of the carb and see if hood'll close

If you are running the stock hood run a straight 2×4 or a level on the lip of the fenders right above the front edge of the carb. Then just measure the clearance. The center of the hood should sit about a 1/2 inch above about the bottom of the level.

Thanks Guys. I guess that answers my question, It's suppose to be the best air filter for airflow. Even better than without a filter at all.

:lol:Are you really making enough power to need that thing? Their findings indicated that the 14x3", or whatever it was, would flow enough for 500hp or so. If I'm recalling correctly...

save some $$$$ buy a air cleaner riser(factory on vans)3-4 in height then put your back on mite due the same!!!
