power steering hose question

Hey all, I am in the process of doing an LS swap (2010 5.3), and currently have manual steering. I will be upgrading to power steering at the same time and need help determining the correct pressure and return hoses to use. I have a 1970 C10 power steering gearbox (remanufactured by Cardone), and the 5.3 already has a pump on it. Will these hoses work?

Thanks

Re: power steering hose question

The LS steering pump is metric. The steering gears were SAE and a few went metric later in production.

You'll either run a line with the correct ends, or you may be able to swap the fitting on the rear of the steering pump. There are a few threads about doing so in this section.

The easliest way i know to do this is go to the junk yard find an old chevy early 70s to late 70s and steal the 1 inch fitting and spring and vavle out of it then swap it to the new ls pump and use the stock lines for you truck thats what i did on my 71 c10 that why if hose ever breaks i can just get on at the parts store

Yes, that would work if you have your factory hoses still, but I like the option below better.

This is what I would do, although you maybe shouldn't steal the fitting from the junk yard. LOL!
