Connecting factory power steering
So I know there is server ways I’m sure to connect the factory steering gear to the factory LS pump. I just wanted to start this thread for others and myself whom are on a budget and want to utilize the factory components as much as possible. Parts and pics would be great. Thanks all.

If you're using a truck LS power steering pump, its super simple. Just take out the flow control valve from your original pump and put it in the newer pump. It's the big 1" fitting at the back of the pump where the high pressure line attaches. Then simply use your factory hoses. Done.

Is there a source to buy the fittings rather than pulling them out of the original pump? I have my complete engine sold so I hate to not leave the fitting in the pump for the next guy...

I have never done anything other then just screw the original truck line into the pump. Never even knew there was a flow control valve.

on my 81 my truck hoses fit the LS pump...all I did was hookem up..both were metric....it won't work if you have standard fittings and metric though....

I went to my local ATI auto parts and custom built my own line. That parts store is now Reibes auto parts in my area so check there. I don’t have the fittings size. I used a higher pressure hydrolic hose. That was five years ago and no leaks. The down side is if anything happens while on the road you’ll probably will not be able to have one made. Wish I would have went the route everyone is talking about.

The SAE pump fitting has 5/8-18 thread. The metric fitting is M16 x 1.5. That's close enough that they'll interchange as far as threading into each other. For the seat, you can convert from metric o-ring to 45* inverted flare with "Factory Air" part number 16746 which come in a box of 2 at your local Advance auto for 16746 for about $3.50. It simply pushes into the metric fitting by hand.
