That is what all the pick and pull yards look like when the price of scrap steel goes way up. They don't bother with having them picked over, they just crush them and cash in.

Our only scrap yard won’t sell you a piece of anything. Nothing. Says it’s all contracted. They will still buy your scraps but won’t sell you anything. We have to go somewhere out of town for our scrap metal needs.
What good are they?

I see that here also but not to such a degree. Our local yards will sell ya parts but you need to be there when it comes in cause the crusher will get priority otherwise.

LKQ is quick to crush. And they pick over the vehicles first before putting out. If you see it you better get it because it could be gone tomorrow

Re: Y'all are lucky

I live in northern Canada and it's a crying shame to see the cars and trucks that went through the crusher. In the local wrecker yard there were at least 30 60 to 72 chev c10, c20 trucks, blazers and burbs crushed. Not to mention a ton of 60's 70's classic cars. like a 69 barracuda, a 73 GTX with a 440 and a factory moon roof. Mustangs. All gone :( And so common to see them with only 30000 miles or less because there is nowhere to drive here. For example my 2009 ram only has 65000 kms on it.

It’s pointless trying to get 67/72 parts at the junkyard anymore. They just aren’t out there. On the rare occasion one pops up, the yard takes all the goodies out of it before it even goes out for picking.

Re: Y'all are lucky

We got the odd 67-72 gm truck and I mean odd.. they are usually trashed or some bastardized version of a truck. And when they are there they are too far gone to even be worth looking at. Trucks that should be in a wrecking yard here usually go for 1000-1800 bucks no joke.

The closest good old yard that kept trucks around forever looked like this last summer or fall.

Looked like they cleaned up the brush and dragged them all out, maybe cleared some out. I have a hunch they want to sell what they can and before long haul them out. Could be wrong

That was one big difference I found between back east and yards out that way... in general. Junkyards were basically good for parts to keep your vehicle going or interior pieces, etc.
