Brothers Trucks really the best place for parts??
Thinking of getting several body panels hinges etc replace on my all stock truck. Wondering if this is the best place or not. Heard several stories from people saying that it’s pretty pricey but yet again at times I feel it’s competitive to other sites .... does anyone know of a site or place to get stock parts for their truck?

Re: Brothers Trucks really the best place for parts??
You're close enough to Brothers you can pickup in-person. I did that the other day and saved a few hundred dollars on shipping.

Re: Brothers Trucks really the best place for parts??
In today's world you have to shop around and be aware of shipping costs . There are dozens of parts suppliers just look in the vendors section in here . I've never bought any parts from Brothers so I'm not commenting on them . And unless your walking into their "store" and can actually see their inventory you have no idea where the parts are coming from . Nobody has stacks of fenders and beds sitting in their warehouse that I know of it's drop shipped from suppliers like AMD . It's become the battle of who has the flashiest easy to navigate website . I look for the best price with the best shipping cost. Find the closest vendor to you and price shop .
Make the effort and WALK in to your local body shop ,They have the ability to order sheet metal replacement parts for your truck and may be able to save you $ on shipping costs .:chevy: |

Drive to the truck and car shop in orange or just look for them at a Pomona swap meet and save a few bucks there. They have everything in stock and on hand for personal inspection, nothing is drop shipped from them.

Re: Brothers Trucks really the best place for parts??
Of the big three here on the west coast, I have the best luck with Brothers. Why, because if you complain about junk they try to make it right. Truck and Car shop is less customer service oriented. I have been in there a couple times. The people that worked there do not seem happy. I gave a Bearded Baby Buffalo Body, that attempted to help me, a piece of my mind last time I was there, then left without parts. I rarely order from them now.
Last summer I got a dash bezel from Brothers. The chrome looked like crap. I emailed them, and they sent a new one that day. The guy opened the box and checked it before he shipped it. That made me happy! :chevy: Bottom line is you gotta shop. Example: I had my bed wood shipped from the Classic parts in Missouri. They had better pine at a better price, even with shipping. You just need to learn to work it and read on this site. If you receive crap... send it back. It's all you can do. Plus, you cannot alway blame the vendor. Another example: I got an AAW classic update wire kit. The headlight switch was crap. I complained. They said. "We know! There is only one manufacture of the switches!" So they wanted to complete the kit, and only had one option for the assembly. So, what can you do. They sent me another switch, obviously, and apologized. Best thing to do is call Brothers and see what they say, and what they are selling. When in doubt I poke around the internet and I always work the phones. :chevy: j |
Re: Brothers Trucks really the best place for parts??
Ive bought a lot of parts from brothers. I can say their sheet metal replacement parts are not good quality. Ordered cab corners and they were garbage. They shipped their sheet metal parts without wrapping in paper and two cab corners touching each other, they were scratched pretty badly. Went through another supplier and found better quality stuff. With that being said, Ive also have had good luck with them for other stuff. Do some research, if the price is right....why not. Seems like Brothers usually has some good sale going that you can't pass up.

Ive never used Brothers because we have local vendors around here. Here is a recent thread that asks about repro high hump trans covers. All the same cover, Brothers is crazy high compared to the others. First post, click on the links.

Re: Brothers Trucks really the best place for parts??
There’s a great website for purchasing ammo called gunbot.net...basically lists all available sales in which you can sort by caliber, price, availability, etc. Wish there was something similar for the aftermarket parts market.

I buy everything I can from Cooper Restorations. They are local and it saves me a lot on shipping, their prices are competitive. I like supporting local shops so that they will be around in the future.
For the things that I can’t buy from Jeff, there is Rock Auto, Summit, Jegs, Classic Parts, ECE, Matt’s Classic Botie (forum supporter), LMC and sometimes local parts sources like NAPA and Autozone. A little internet searching is your friend |

Re: Brothers Trucks really the best place for parts??
Anyone know of vendors in Texas?
|
Re: Brothers Trucks really the best place for parts??
Don't know about Texas. But we have a local backyard kinda guy sells used parts in and around Albuquerque. He's honest and has usually good used parts for reasonable. Went there yesterday and got a set of good used inner fenders for less than shipping would be on aftermarket ones. Was very happy. He has new doors tailgates, grills in stock also. Great guy to deal with. He has some really good rust free, cause in NM, fenders right now. Just don't need any fenders for now. PM me will send you his number if your in for a drive. He will not ship anything. We always try to go with stock metal panels even if used. Good luck.
