'88 5.7 TBI .. the TPS ???
Ok, I'm getting confused.
It started when I bought a nice rebuilt TBI 5 years ago. I don't remember if my old TBI had an adjustable TPS on it. The rebuilt has a TPS w/ slotted bolt holes. After chasing some stalling issues, I decided to find out if the TPS was bad. The parts houses only show a non-adjustable TPS. But an AC Delco TPS, ( as shown in the "book", and also at the GMC dealer show a non-adjustable TPS. The problem is the adjustable TPS allows my truck to run better.. after adjusting it. ( but I don't know if it is failing?) Take a look at your '88 5.7, and let me know if your TPS has slotted bolt holes or not??? ( You should be able to see by looking) |
Re: '88 5.7 TBI .. the TPS ???
I think it's the later years the TPS was made non-adjustable but you can slot the holes for adjustment. Small files and a Dremel rotary tool are some of the most useful tools I own. I really couldn't tell if mine is adj. by looking at it since it's kind of buried but I remember I have adjusted it long ago.

Re: '88 5.7 TBI .. the TPS ???
Thanks.... I wonder if you can make out a number on It? It should be on the side, that is exposed ( wipe off the dust).... maybe you can still see it ? Apparently, the new one ( AC Delco) I got is bad. ( & a week and a half for a replacement) ???????

The only number on the side of it is C1664. It's super old though. It might even be original.

The TPS111DG part number on autozone.com looks to be slotted/adjustable.
