Hood Hinge Question on 57

Here's my problem.
I was doing a home made flip hood on my truck.
Been trying to get it to work properly for too long ( rubs on the sides when opening) and I am going back to hinges.
My choices are the stock style for around $150.00 that seem to give trouble after a while or the EMS billet for around $600.00 that work very well and look very nice.
What's the real world experience with them.
Thanks
Kim

sorry to hear you are scrapping the tilt hood after all that work. nice tech article for a seat of your pants build as you go.
I have a set of repops that look as good for quality as the originals maybe a maintenance thing why they wear out in the first place. not a lot of guys lubing hood hinges over the years. one shop I worked at never heard of doing that unless they were starting to seize up.

Thanks for the replies guys.
The tilt was just beyond my skill to make work without rubbing.
I saw a truck at the GNRS that had one of the after market kits and his rubbed at the corners so if they can't make it work I'm probably out of my league.
Lesson learned for future projects.

On a side note the billet ones sure are nice though and it is probably my last project so it will be a well thought out decision.

I too like billet hinges, BUT, the original style steel hinges have workd for years and the nice part is they do flex some, as the hood will whereas billet pretty much go where they're lined up to go. my .02 worth
