2 Attachment(s)
NOT A FOR SALE THREAD >>>>I bought a parts lot and sorting through the stuff I found these two mirrors. Does anyone know what year trucks these are from. I tgought the silver headed one was from the 67-68 era but saw a picture of one like in a 71 C10 so dont know. I have no clue as to what the one with the turquoise cap is from..

Re: What year Trucks were these on?
Top is 71 bottom is 67-70

Re: What year Trucks were these on?
Top is '69, '70, 71'
72 was glued to the windshield |
Re: What year Trucks were these on?
As far as I know the mirror arm in 67 was one year only and wasn't different for different trim levels. So basically you are looking at 68-71 for those two mirror arms. The bottom one I picked up from Brother's trucks but the holes are backward from the 67.

Re: What year Trucks were these on?
The silver one is a base trim model and the other is an upgrade version (higher trim package)

This is a picture of a '67 only mirror bracket. I'm saying the Silver/chrome one is '60-'66. If you look at the screw holes for the '67 below, then look at his there is no way they will interchange.... LockDoc |
Re: What year Trucks were these on?
Top one is off a 70 also. I have one in my truck, I'm in the process of replacing the glass (for the last three years)!

Re: What year Trucks were these on?
vinyl one = 68-71
all metal one = 66 and earlier (not certain how far back it goes, either to 64 or 60, I imagine. The windshield changed in 64 from the 60-63 wraparound, but since it was cab mounted, could have been common throughout the whole era) no differences based on trim levels, just years. 72 (not pictured) is first windshield mount one as Kennuck stated. |
Re: What year Trucks were these on?
I used to have one just like that bottom one on my 68. Couldn't be for certain if it was originally though.

Re: What year Trucks were these on?
So, my 66 had the metal one, and every 64-66 I've seen had it. Would GM have re-used a previous era one on a 68, but NOT on 67? Interesting. Maybe the vinyl IS for 69-71 only then... This forum is great for data points.

Re: What year Trucks were these on?
I would say the lower one is a 68, and the upper is 69-71

Re: What year Trucks were these on?
best I can do with what's in my phone, but this is a '71, and 72 is first year puck glued to windshield..
the one that looks like upside down clutch pedal is '65 at least, not sure how much earlier.. I'm done, all I got on rear view mirrors lol https://dl.dropbox.com/s/ndycy2g1pw0...16350.jpg?dl=0 |
Re: What year Trucks were these on?
The one with no cover is the same as my ‘57.

Re: What year Trucks were these on?
Thanks for all the quick replies everyone. I got it figured now and I think maybe a few of us learned another little tidbit about our trucks. I thought the all metal one was for 67/68 but now we know it wasn't for either.

Re: What year Trucks were these on?
The all metal is the type I’ve had in 2 68s. The rubber cover I’ve seen in 69+

Keep in mind the rear view mirror was an option until 69 or 70, so who knows what may have been installed at a dealer or by owner. |
Re: What year Trucks were these on?
It's quite a coincidence that this thread pops up so soon after I went through my boxes of parts and I, to, had one of each of those mirrors. Neither of which came off my 72 (no holes in the forward cab top). I will be using the all metal one, far better shape and more vintage in my opinion!
A bit of a web search and it's confirmed...its either a 60-66 Chevy truck OR a 60-71 OR maybe both. You gotta love the old car manufacturing days! I finished a F@%D project here a while back and thought they were bad about mixing up the different years and parts. It seems that it was plague across all makers back then. |

I like the '67-'68 types because they're simpler and thus more stable. |
