Wiring harness question redux

So, it would appear that the 03 Van computer I have is the Green/blue variety, and I am pretty sure the harness in that 01 parts truck is red/blue. They are both dbc but will they work with each other?

I asked this ? a few months ago everyone said NO they are not compatiable I forget why but they wont . but you can you use either wiring harness as long as the ecm is for the green blue and the ecm is for the red/blue. its all about the ecm being different .

Re: Wiring harness question redux

They're basically the same, but a few 5v reference wires and some grounds are in different spots, but in a swap it wont really matter. The harness wont plug into the older PCM without changing the green connectors with the red ones, or by cutting the tab off of them that keeps them from going in. If you go this route, use the '01 PCM and tune it as an '01 since trying to load newer tunes in older PCM's will sometimes brick them, and you don't want that! LOL!

I'm wanting to use the 01 harness with the 03 computer, or I guess I can try to fix the few wires that have been butt spliced in to keep the harness and computers matched.

That will work too. The only thing I can think of that's different is the MAF and maybe the O2 sensors, so you may have to swap the plugs for those.

I plan on using the 01 truck intake on the 03 Van motor so the MAFsensor will match the harness.
So to sum up:
2001 4.8l truck harness and intake
2003 6.0l van Ecm and engine
This will work?

also another thing to consider is the fuel injector connecters I don't know if they are the same on your o1 harness and the 03 harness but I had a 02 complete red/blue wiring harness that I was gona try to use on a 2003-07 engine but the injector connects were different on the blue /green ones .so you can make the harnesses work but they will be a lot of extra wiring to do .

I figured I would use the injectors that are in the truck intake, still match the harness.

The only difference in injector connectors is if one was flex fuel and one was not. Being that the truck engine is an '01, I would say they are not and a 4.8 van probably isn't either. You can easily tell if they're the same or not since the flex injectors have a bigger square plug where as the non flex have a smaller more rectangular plug.

If you're going to use the van PCM with the truck MAF, be sure to tell your tuner because there is a difference between the two, but can be made to work in the tune.
