1965 K10 Factory AC Question
Hey Guys, This is my first time ever on any site or forum so bare with ME!
I have a 65 4x4 with Factory Air and wanted to restore the Air back to factory but looks like it's going to cost a grip of money! When I had it working a few years back it didn't seem like it was as Cold as it should have been. Are the complete retro fit systems a lot more efficient than the factory system with new parts. I don't want to invest 700.00 or so on all the parts and not be satisfied with the performance? Get's pretty hot here in Phoenix and the Truck is all Black!! Any suggestions would be great. Have a Blessed Day! |
Re: 1965 K10 Factory AC Question
I rebuilt mine and did a 134A conversion on it, just because I wanted a factory restoration.

Does it cool the cab well? What compressor did you use? Where did you get parts?

Re: 1965 K10 Factory AC Question
Since you live in Phoenix, I would suggest one of the aftermarket AC conversions. If you want to keep the factory look inside the cab, there are 2 members here that produce factory replica/ upgrade AC vents and the air box behind it.

It cools fine here but I rarely use it. I bought a rebuild kit off of Ebay and rebuilt the stock compressor.

Thanks Guys, I may just replace all the components and see how it cools
in the July/August weather and go from there. I will need to replace the Condensor, drier and hoses anyways. |
