Rear bumper and license plate location

Anyone seen a rear bumper like this, and if so, where do I mount the license plate? I also don't see where there would be a light for it.

Any thoughts??

Screw the plate to the bumper on one side, put the plate light beside it.

From the rust spot...
Probably left side, look for holes

I thought that might be the spot, but when I put it there, top half of plate is behind tailgate, and you can't see the sticker.

On the face of the bumper, right below the green arrow.

My truck is similar, flat bumper, plate is screwed right to it. There used to be a hitch on the bumper, there are holes to one side where the PO had the plate on the side like yours needs to be. I run with no light.

Depends on cops, turn plate upside down or put sticker low...lol
I have been stoped because my redneck lights and plate... riding on milk crate, no seat belts(not in 62). If you can make a cop laugh or say Yep Done that...

Seems your bumper may be situated a little too far in and a bit high. Most often, the upright flange on a step bumper is just outside of the rear cross sill. see pics. If the bumper is setting low enough, and close to the cross sill, a license plate will just barely fit there under the tailgate.

thanks for the pics. I think i might just cut the bottom inch or so off my plate and mount it in that spot. I think that way, the state and tag will be visible. then I will see if I can mount some type of light next to it.

oem4me,

Where did you get that rubber edging material that is between the ends of the bumper and the bed?

Both of those shown are original to those trucks. I have not yet found an exact replacement source, but there are similar items available. I'll try and find the thread on here where some are shown.
EDIT: check the following thread starting at around post #27 and then post #98 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=561195&page=2

Around here the plate would get crammed in between the rear window & the gun rack...;)

Yes, just thinking a bit off the bottom edge.

Funny you say that, that's where the previous owner had it taped.
