Just brought it home yesterday. Don't know how original it is, no spid. Title, VIN plate, and frame stamp all match. It was born with 250ci IL 6, now has 327ci. Fender says Cheyenne, IDK? Has Tach, tilt steering, ralley wheels, 4 speed, front disc, front bumper guards, and usual rust. I'm super stoked.

We also Stopped by LMC's to get some accessories.

My wife, one of my boys, and I were up until 1:00am and spent this morning changing master cylinder, rear wheel cylinders, and chasing down a clog in brake line to rear wheels (found it in separation block that attaches to rear axel and replaced). We also put on rear LED tail lights and cowl induction hood. Next we are going to replace the front bumper.

Here are some Pictures.

I’m not seeing much of the “normal rust” in those pictures! Looks like a great score!

Could be a Cheyenne, it has the rear cab light. Any welded up trim holes in the body panels? How about a headliner? If its a true 71cab, it will have a raised area where rear view mirror mounts to cab.

Looking good though!

Safety suggestion...

Swap out that plastic bodied fuel filter for a metal cased one...

Plastic over time will crack due to under hood heat...

Nice truck!

Thanks for the advise. It did help me solve a rusty tank problem though. After I completed the first phase of the fixer up brakes and all. I took it to the carwash and almost didn't make it. So I replaced the cheapest first. Fuel filter with clear plastic. It clogged up really quickly with rust that I could see through the clear filter. So out with the tank, tank to a local tank wash, back in which lead me to carb bowl full of rust. So now that all is running good, and clean. I think a metal filter is tomorrow's project:)
