Fuel sending unit question

I received the wrong sending unit. The fittings are different sizes. New one is too large. Should I just cut them off and run a rubber line or is that a bad idea? Waited a week for the dang thing and don't feel like returning and waiting for another one. Tried advanced auto to see if they had a fitting to adjust for the differences but no luck.

I think that would work OK. I would still try to find an adapter fitting. You might try NAPA.
