As the title states, I purchased a disc brake kit from CPP. It included the usual: Spindles with 2.5 drop, lines with banjo bolts, calipers, rotors and hardware.

In addition to the kit, I did tie rods and sleeves, ball joints, purchased proportioning valve, and a master cylinder from a 72 disc/drum c10 to get the juice to flow correctly.

Ive done all the heavy lifting and am left with only the MC and prop valve. i bought some short lines from the MC to prop valve and had to rip out the front lines because they were all rusted and fragile.

My life is a nightmare now of adapters and leaky brake lines, does anyone have experience with this scenario? CPP's tech and manual section is about as helpful as a hammer to the face.

Hi Skully -

Can you give us some more details on what issue are you having?

I hear you on taking something and adapting what a company says is a direct bolt on. It can be daunting and frustrating. I have went through that more times that I would like to admit.

What I have done in the past is started with the basics. What does work, what looks right, from one piece to the end. If the MC is bolted on, does the lines you purchased fit or are they too long, bent wrong, or? Did you happen to take a bunch of pictures of the setup before teardown?

Welcome to the forum. I did the same upgrade to my Burb, had a few issues but got through it and it's all OK now. Let's have more specifics and see some photos. We.ll get you through it.

I didnt push it into a lake, but I did have it towed to a shop and they bent all new lines for me. The guy told me he thought it sucked to do too, so that was validating i guess. I thought better to have a pro do it than eek by with my own brake lines and find out the hard way that it wasnt a great job.

Apologies for the ghosting after posting, I needed a break from the truck for a bit after spending my entire vacation getting my ass kicked by leaky brake lines and banjo bolts. Its back on the ground now, so thats good.

Other than the rubber or braided lines to the calipers, I've always just bent my own up and flare them to fit. I guess I have more patience than others. Of course I've been doing this stuff for nearly 40 years also

Glad to hear it's not at the bottom of the lake and your making progress. Patience may be a virtue, but it's pretty much a requirement when restoring vehicles. Sometimes stepping away and getting a good nights sleep will make all the difference.

Just finished the same project, and there was plenty of cursing involved lemme tell ya. And don’t expect any support from CCP either. The good news is I just got my truck aligned and it drives like a dream now. So hang in here and keep moving towards the light at the end of the tunnel (and not at the bottom of the lake).

When frustration takes over find something to do on the project to keep you moving. When doing brakes I find its easier to rip everything out and start over but something always comes up.

Sagely advice for sure. I think my frustration stemmed from this being basically the final piece to get me cruising for the summer. Everything else on the truck is simple aesthetics stuff and I know better than to poke at non-important stuff until the fall when I can afford to make it temporarily worse.

Thankfully the mechanic I had it towed to did an amazing job and bent me up all new lines. :metal:
