I didn't use one of those. But I do use a bare 5.3,with junk 706 heads. It works great and lots cheaper. Also use a gutted 4l60 trans mounted to it. It all works great for mockup.

I thought about getting one but they cost as much or more than a real engine...if I was doing a lot of swaps I might could see it ,but to just do one or 2 I couldn't justify it....

I totally see that if someone was doing buggies, boats etc where getting the engine in and out was prohibitive, it could be a lifesaver. I'm in the same boat with the others tho, we usually had a blown motor laying around to toss in.
