So I was wondering if anyone has used their product in your truck? I like it cause it’s a do it yourself, and I can spray it same color as truck. If you did it how much of a difference did it make sound and heat? What would you of done different? Is all the work worth it vs putting down the mat and a thick rubber mat? Was thinking of putting a rubber floor mat over it as well.

I bought the ceramic beads and mix it into the paint. like $15. I did fine it wears like iron, but no scientific measurements were taken on temperature.
I later added some 3/4" vinyl foam padding to control the heat in the cab.
I wish I had more of that padded, its very dense and works good.

Note: you mix it with latex paint. I bought rustolieum in a qt can and was surprised at its durability under my feet on the floor. Drys with a slight sandy texture, like fine sand paper.

I just sprayed lizard skin in my cab this weekend. The majority of the time is spent on prep work. It lays down easy and looks good. I only did the sound deadener and I am completely unimpressed with it. There is no difference in the resonance in my cab. I’m happy that my floor is protected, but that’s about it. Im gonna lay down some (Not the complete floor cause it’s a waste) dynomat to help with the resonance, some closed foam cell next and then mass loaded vinyl to help quiet the cab.

Ooh aah. Mass loaded vinyl.

I called a guy that does bus conversations he uses the lizard skin, but that's just step one. He then adds insulation and other stuff to deaded the sound and keep the heat out. He did several layers.

I bought some micro bubble wrap and used it under the floor board around the tranny to keep the heat out.
It has worked for like 10 years. But it was for a cab that just has steel floors.

I will post pics when I get to that point. The rest of my materials should be here tomorrow. I’m looking forward to the results. I have never went this direction on a vehicle. From my research, this is the proper way to do it. I did lay down some butyl mat as the lizard skin did not impress me. I did not cover the floor 100% as it is not necessary.

Your correct the butyl dampens the vibration of the metal. I've seen kits that only cover only a fraction of the floor.

you're on the right track.

I bought an 06 chevy express and it had 1 1/4" thick insulation on the floors. I was surprised just how thick it was.

Post a pick as you go. I'm a ways before doing the interior.

Do some reading on sounddeadenershowdown.com, don’t get caught up in lining the whole floor with dynomat. You’ll find out it’s a waste of time. Most of the noise cancelling comes from mass loaded vinyl. I haven’t driven the truck yet, but just talking in the cab I can tell a difference. No more echoes. I’ll report back with more once I’m driving it. Hopefully tonight.

My biggest concern is heat in the cab
Then road noise.
I can mix my own lizzard skin for pretty cheap. The issue I have is these old trucks leak water into the cab. Add padding and I have rust. I may add some of that pressed aluminum stuff in the tranny tunnel.

Got it all back toegether minus the ground to my amp. So no testing on the sound for the radio. Road noise is reduced significantly. I am very happy with the results.
