New Suspension - New Shoes

Wow! What huge difference changing out the "stock" leafs and shocks with some Tuff Country EZ-Ride has made!
Night and day! I might as well have had pieces of pipe welded from the axles to the chassis compared to the ride now.
Threw on some new shoes while I was at it -
Here is how the Burb site now - next up is the paint shop...

Your Burb is looking very good! Will you be painting the same color?

Yeah that's been the plan all along...mainly because it's the factory color.

But then I found this Burb and have to say I'm now torn between keeping it stock or shaking things up a bit. I like how this one is clean along the bottom. It had the holes along the bottom, for the molding, filled in. The white top and white rally wheels look pretty good...
The wife and all four of our young boys say they will still love it either way!

It might come down to a coin flip when I drop it off

I personally like the white roof. I think it breaks it up. Either way nice looking truck.

It's looking great. My vote is white roof, but I may be biased. The white roof in the photos plays well with the white wheels. There is a case to be made for the white roofed Burbans being cooler in the summer.

Wanabe68 what sort of wheels and tires are you running? Stock ride height or did you lift it a little?

Re: New Suspension - New Shoes

Funny, I see the Wanabe68 title and just remembered I originally wanted to change the 69 front end to a 68 - that's where I got the wanabe68. But that ship has sailed, I just can't get anyone to answer my messages about changing that user id...

Polishspy, those are stock rally wheels and the shoes are BF Goodrich All Terrain T/As. Would have to double check the sizes though. I didn't know it at the time, but my rally's and BF Goodrich's are the same as the white roofed Burb in the above pictures.
The new suspension was supposed to be a 2 inch lift. Rear end is up an additional 2 inches, but the front is up just under 3 additional inches higher for some reason. I'm going to lower the front a little under 1 inch to have it "sit" at a better stance.
Where in Texas are you?

Thanks Rob - mine is a beater compared to your jewel!
And yes HO455, the white roof in the coming Texas heat is appealing!

Awesome information on the EZ Ride! I have a 70 short bed 4X and I've been looking for ways to improve the ride for some time. Do you have any pics of the new suspension? Also, any idea how much I should expect it to set me back if I were to replace the stock suspension components?
Looks great!

Rowdy,
Here is one of the rear shocks - sorry, that's all I have handy. The bushings for the leaf springs look cool, because they are red and kind-of pop.
I ordered everything through 4 Wheel Parts and they also did the work. All in for the Tuff Country kit and labor I think it was around 1,200(?) - (but) I had some other misc issues addressed while they were in there.

And the new All-Terrain T/A shoes are 33" x 12.5"...and are not included in the above price!

FYI, you have another option for leveling the lift by using the Offroad Design's Zero Rate Add A Leaf. (http://www.offroaddesign.com/catalog/Zero%20Rates.htm

I used this to solve the same issue and am very happy with the outcome.

Hey thanks Miles...
I literally just had an old school spring shop close to downtown H-Town take 3/4" out with an old press.
It's sitting much better now.

Glad to hear you solved the problem. Here in Los Angeles "old school" spring shops are few and far between!

:uhmk: that's me having shop envy! What a great looking shop! And I did see your thread on this Burb and it is a sweet looking ride!
The wife and our 4 boys voted on keeping it stock - so it's going to stay all yellow green...

Love the truck and I am local to you! Interested to hear what you ultimately decided on paint scheme.

I'll send you a PM now to connect more, thanks!

Cool. Don't forget to post pics once you're done with your project.
