66 Glove compartment door spring
2 Attachment(s)
Ever since I was a little kid I remember it being a total b!tch to open the glove compartment door on my Dad's 66. You have to push the button with one hand then jam your fingernails of the other hand on the lip and pull it open.
Well that ends now! I took the door off for some other work and I noticed there is actually a spring on the pass side hinge that must apply outward pressure to the door so that when you push the button the door pops out a bit. My spring is either broke or sprung. I haven't been able to find any pics or parts. Any help? |
Re: 66 Glove compartment door spring
That may have been put there to mask the bushing problem. The spring doesnt belong there. The very bottom of the door is the spring it comes in contact with the inside of the dash when the door is closed.
You see that black material your spring (in your picture) surrounds on the door hinge? That probably needs to be replaced by a proper bushing that looks similar to the one on the opposite side (shown on first pic). |
