How to run braided line along a hard line
 

I need to run a return line next to my fuel line. I'm using 3/8 hard line for supply and -6 AN for return.

I was hoping to find a two-slot cable clamp with holes that matched, but no luck.

Short of just zip tying the hose to the line, which doesn't look very pro, any thoughts for how to elegantly secure a hose to a line so it doesn't look all saggy and droopy in a year?

Check out McMaster Carr, https://www.mcmaster.com/#hose-clamps/=1cr3dg7 or make your own. Personally I would use the 2 of the loop clamps and just connect them to one bolt. There are billet ones available, but those can eat into your budget really quick.

The big hole is 5/8" which should for -6 hose. If the small hole fits 3/8 line, then I'm set!

Dave, you can connect two Adel clamps together using a single bolt. I think that is what my67c20 was talking about.

for the real clean look and better function, run hard line both ways..

steel braid is super abrasive and can do extensive damage to its surroundings..

these Stauff hydraulic tubing clamps might be a little robust for your app, but they're tidy and hearty..

davepl, that one from McMaster carr is the same size on both lines. Those will work but steel edges on hose, may be an issue down the road. As Steve Cole pointed out, I would suggest using 2 of the individual parts at the diameters of choice. If you want to use the double clamp, I suggest going larger and then getting a grommet so the clamp is not on the metal. The Stauff clamps that Killer Bee pointed out are nice, but not cheap. If you go that route get the one for the smaller tube and drill the other side out for the hose. Although best option is to run hard lines until you need flexible lines.

I actually bought the hard line and have it, but it's near impossible to route it with the body on the chassis (car, not truck, but I didn't want to randomize the topic). I'm going to continue to try. I got it over the rear and the trans crossmember and eBrake cable, but it's still a bear to route.

I'm sure I'll get it in there eventually but it won't look nice and straight. So if I fail, I'll do the PTFE return hose.

ouch, some cars can be tight under there..

not my favorite thing to do adding connections, but a strategic tubing union might allow you to run hard line through some obstacles..

another unfavorite thing to do is make extra work, but raising the car a few feet in the air and removing some interference items may help..

sometimes it takes a little extra grunt work to make another job a lot easier, and sometimes overall faster in the end..

good luck with it, sure you'll get it routed just fine..

Dave make sure you use PTFE fuel line or you will have a continuous gas smell in your garage....

-6 AN is not 5/8, it is 3/8. 5/8 AN is -10

he might have been referring to the hose OD clearance hole required through the clamp..

-6 hose would require a greater clamp diameter than 3/8", all depends on the type of hose..

typically, tubing is measured OD and hose is measured ID

and dash sizes are the number of 16ths of an inch; -4 = 4/16 = 1/4

Yeah, on the INSIDE, but I don't see what relevance that is for mounting it, right?

In the end I decided to run an additional stainless hard line instead of the AN hose. I still need the hose for the flex portions at the tank and to the engine.

I'm too emotionally drained from bending stainless to take photos :-)

But I will. I finally have two lines all the way from the tank to the fuel pump area, and I have AN ends on them, so that's 90% of the battle!
