Wednesday night photo-op

After my son and I finished mowing this past Wednesday evening, I took Slick out just before dark for a few photos. Some are in front of a school close to my house. Others are at an old general store building a few miles down the road. Some of these didn't come out great because I was using a phone to take pictures. Sometime, I need to take some with a good DLR camera.

Nice looking truck, I especially like the fact that you have cleaned up the back end by removing the chains. I'm currently looking for a kit to do mine. Do you remember where you bought it and how much of a job to install? I like the stance also, how much did you lower it?

Slick has to be the nicest looking autocross truck out there.

The chains had to go for functional reasons. They were swinging around throwing the handling off!

Nice ride!

Regarding the camera. The little phone cameras have come a very long way... My wife's Iphone X takes better shots than my Cannon DSLR in many situations.

For quick point and shoot under optimal lighting conditions the iPhone X's camera and software put out some amazing images. In order for me to duplicate some of what she produces with my Canon, I'd have to first shoot with the proper lens at the proper settings and then do some serious post processing to get the color and brightness saturation to even come close.

With her phone, it's so easy to just pull it out of the pocket and take the shot, then share it or post it up. No lugging the big Rig around along with the extra lenses and other bits of kit.

Your shots look fine though. Maybe a bit of easy PhotoShopLite "Levels" adjustment would bring out some more detail?

It's not a kit. I actually had the chains on it when it first got painted. After a couple years, I got tired of hearing them bang around, and the clear rubber sleeve was starting to look pretty nasty. I had a machine shop cut down a 3/8" stainless bolt with a flat edge on one side, then I polished it out, and used rubber washers to keep it all snug and rattle-free. The down side is the tailgate is almost useless. I've actually considered making a set of rods with hooks to keep in the cab when I want to drop the tailgate. I'll post some pictures later.

All in all, modern phone cameras do a pretty good job with the right lighting. The issue I ran into was when I got to the old general store, the thick trees behind me were blocking light and the setting sun was in the background causing the camera to read the light the wrong way. I personally don't own a good DSLR camera, but my dad uses a Nikon D7000. It would've been able to filter the light and adjust shutter speed. It takes some pretty amazing photos, but like you said, it's bulky and a pain in the ar$e to lug around.

old51sedan, here's how I did my tailgate pins.

Thanks for the pictures as to what you did. I have since found a kit containing hidden tailgate hinges along with a latch kit. If interested Brothers has it, it's in their catalog listed under tailgate accessories.
