Header question

Has anyone had any luck putting in the engine with longtubes on it? They are speed engineering 1 7/8 on a 5.3. Gotta figure out where to adjust the sliding mounts and hoping I can do it in one shot. But looking at pics ot looks really close. Cab is on if that makes a difference and it is a 65.

Re: Header question

Are you asking if you can install the engine with headers already bolted up?

Re: Header question

I think if the front clip was off you probably could insert it from the front with the headers on. With the front end on though, I'd think you'd have a hard time stabbing it in there.

Here you go, I had to cut where the dust shield top portion goes off of my 4l80e. I knew I would the ears but was not aware of the top bolt holes.

Thanks. Especially the driver side as I am using the original clutch linkage and need to determine whether there is enough clearance.

Re: Header question

Its like 10 bolts.. why not just remove them and install them when it's in the truck.. seems a whole lot simpler and easier than running around the truck fiddling with it...

Re: Header question

With cpp perches and sliding motor mounts it will not go in with speed engineering 1 7/8 longtubes. Good news is the 4l80e fits with the low hump with about 1/2" clearance. Tons of room on the back of the engine and firewall.

Wow that sucks. What is your plan B?

Just took them off and installed them after the motor was in. Had to massage the passenger side. It is a pain doing it by yourself.
