Charging
So I recently did a 5.3 swap in my 80 k10 Scottsdale.... the alternator that came with the engine fits and unsure if it works. But it’s a two pin alternator(not sure what it was from). How do I hook my original 2 pin connector to the alterbator?!? I hear people are jumping the #2 wire on the rear post but what do I do with the other wire which, I believe, is for the dummy light?

Re: Charging
So I actually found out is a d44 alternator from a truck which is a 250amp alternator..... the plug that came with it was cut and has an orange and brown wires and idk which one goes where. I’ve tried looking up diagrams and I couldn’t find anything that will help me

Re: Charging
You don't, if you are using the GM PCM for the engine the alternator is controlled by the PCM. Your engine harness should have a connector on it for the alternator.

Re: Charging
Thanks malibuss. The setup I’m using is not factory fuel injection.i bought a Holley mid rise intake, Edelbrock 1406 4brl carb with electric choke and the MSD1610 ignition control module with the harnesses.
I did some tease arch, staying up all night of course, and found out that it is a self inducing alternator..... I Just don’t know what to do with that plug. I guess I’ll find out soon when its running and the battery dies LOL! :banghead: |
