more questions

Well you have helped me alot so far, so here goes some more questions.
I have a 1970 gmc burb, I would like to put a 1967-1968 hood on it, and a 72 chev grill.
from what I have been reading on other posts this just may be possible.
I understand the headlight differences, but will these phisically bolt on and line up.
again thanks alot for all of the help.:banghead:

I don't klnow from first hand experiance...however, i think the 67/68 hood is longer than the 69-72.

I saw it done on a '69 truck once....but the top bar on the grille was hacked off......

In order to use the complete 71-72 style grill you would need to cut the front of hood off a 69-72 style and lay it back at the 67-68 angle, the 67-68 hood front edge extends downward another 2 1/2-3" lower than a 69-72 hood so to use a 67-68 hood with the 71-72 grille would require that 2 1/2-3" be removed from the top of the grille where it meets the hood which would look totally butchered as you would have the grille sticking up this amount above hood edge on either side as it wraps onto the front fender leading edge.

Pancake it!

If you want that look, just pancake the hood and use a earlier radator support. I have seen this done quit a bit. You cut the hood at the leading edge and back to the window you tapper it off to the orignal edge. I thought I had a picture of one but I can't find it right now.

I like that look. Got me thinking. :)

okay so the hood thing may be out, I am not that talented in body work and I wanted to do all of this myself. but will the 72 chevy grill fit my 70 gmc?

Longhorn Man 11-16-2003 02:04 PM

A 72 chevy grill will fit your GMC...but you'll need new fenders, rad cupport and bumper too.
Not to mention the grill.
And entire front clip is the best way to go.
