84 C20 Upper Control Arm question
Hey guys,
I'm rebuilding the front suspension on my 84 C20, and I am slightly stumped by the upper control arm. On each end of the pivot bar that connects the upper control arm to the frame, there is a cap / nut with a grease zerk on the end, and I cannot figure out how to remove it. It is very large, looks like it would require a 1 1/2" socket to remove. What's the trick to getting this thing off? Thanks in advance for your thoughts! |

Re: 84 C20 Upper Control Arm question
Scoti,
Thx for the reply. My first thought was, is this thing even supposed to come off? I figured it must, it clearly wasn't cast together with adjoining parts, but didn't want to make a bigger mess by trying to remove something unless it was meant to be removed. Tried using a large closed end wrench, but it wouldn't budge, may have try loosening it with a torch, I think .... My plan is to swap this complete crossmember assy into my 65 C2. Before I swap it, I'm gonna strip down the donor crossmember assy to just the bare crossmmember to make it easier to install on the 65 frame. Then, I'll go ahead and media blast the hard parts & replace all the wear & tear parts as I reassemble it on my 65 |
