Need direction on mounting large A6 a/c compressor
3 Attachment(s)
I need someone to point me in the right direction on a a/c compressor mount. I just bought this 72 with factory air. It also has the old compressor. The PO said the a/c was working until he put a different engine with taller valve covers.
Now the compressor is just laying over to the side and I need to find a mount for it. The small block engine has a short water pump and the alumiumn heads has the threaded holes in them for a bracket. I hate to start ordering brackets only to find out they will not work. Any recomendations without spending a lot of money on a complete system? I don't mind getting a smaller compressor if need be. But I had rather use this factory style one I have. |

It looks like the brackets are on your compressor to the head. You will need to order one for the back bottom for headers.

There is one bracket that passes very close across the valve cover and won't work with the tall covers. Other that a custom bracket, you may need to change them.

Notsolow, Do you think that bracket would clear my tall valve covers and could I make it fit the headers?

Brackets are only going to work with original valve covers, very close even so...you Might want to consider an Upgrade to a Sanden Compressor.
