Re: springs on rear shocks?
Saw these on rock auto. Spring assist shocks. AC Delco and Monroe make them.

Re: springs on rear shocks?
I haven't seen those in decades. They used to be, in theory, a poor man's overload system. Help your truck (or car!) carry more weight, or compensate for worn out sagging springs. Toss 'em with no regrets.....
EDIT: just saw the above post. I had no idea they were still made. Ones I was thinking of were aftermarket add-ons to go on regular shocks. |
Re: springs on rear shocks?
Problem with those, is the shock mounts were not designed to support vehicle weight. Add a leaf or put some air bags on

Re: springs on rear shocks?
Mine had them when I replaced them (with non-coil shocks)..

Re: springs on rear shocks?
My 1972 GMC C15 had them when I bought it. My truck was a leaf sprung truck at the time. I removed them and just used some Monroe shocks from the parts store.
