good kit . fixes comon problems . firms up . light chirp if your hard on it . wont snap your neck .

have had a few installed over the years and no problems . just did one on my current project with a th400 trans.

transgo sk350 under 25 bucks shipped on e-bay

and get a bottle of trans goo or petrolium jelly to hold the check balls if doing in the truck .

Personally I've always likes the B &M kit

My favorite that I've installed many times is the Superior HP. Beware this kit isn't just a valve body kit and needs to be put in while the transmission is apart. The center seal in the direct drum is removed.

I have always used B&M but I was told Transgo is better. Transgo just improves everything without removing check balls and giving harsh shifts. That reminds me that I have a Transgo on the bench that needs to be installed.

Re: Th350 shift shift ?

I took the pan off the transmission this past weekend and it appears there is a lot of material in the bottom of the pan. I was told not to put the shift kit into the transmission but to pull it out and have it rebuilt. I was told not to put a shift kit in any transmission with a lot of miles on it but I would be better off taking the transmission out and rebuild it with the shift kit.
What are your thoughts on this ?

Re: Th350 shift shift ?

th350 is cheep to rebuild . good insurance for the end product .

grab a transtar rebuild kit and it will have about every thing you might need for basic service parts in it . good bang for the buck . use it with the transgo kit i said before . i had one done years ago with this combo and it served great behind a build 400sbc and 38" mud tires with 4.10 gears .

Re: Th350 shift shift ?

I wouldn't rebuild a trans unless it was dead and not moving. Whenever I buy a vehicle and change the trans fluid, the pan is full of sludge. They always run many years after that point. The transgo kit will actually extend the life of the trans with quicker shifts with less slipping and better oil flow.

Would it not cost me more if I drive it until its dead and not moving vs rebuilding it now ?

I don't believe so but I'm not a tranny rebuilder. The parts that keep it from moving would be the clutches or some seals and they all get replaced on a rebuild. If you plan long distance trips you may have more peace of mind with a rebuilt one.

Re: Th350 shift shift ?

I am going to replace the Th350 with a 700R4 and changing the rear gears to 3.42's. Thats the plan going forward. Thanks.

Re: Th350 shift shift ?

That 700R4 will need to be well built to survive behind your 383. And don't forget to get the TV Made EZ kit from Bowtie Overdrives and set the TV cable up correctly so you don't burn up your trans.

Re: Th350 shift shift ?

Thanks, done this scenario a few times so I know what I am getting into. TV cable is the most talked about issue on the 700r4, along with how the TCC is applied.
