NVU Tachometer running backwards

1 Attachment(s)
I recently purchased the New Vintage USA Retro guauge cluster from LMC Truck. The installation was super easy and everything was working great for theee weeks or so. Then I noticed the my needle was slightly running backwards and then doing the full sweep on start-up. Because of this my needle is now sitting a 6000 RPMs and continues to go backwards. Please look at the picture and tell me what you think I should do. Or how to fix it.

Thanks for your help.

Check your connections, make sure no wires were abraded/exposed and now grounding out - if all looks correct, call the mfgr.

Out of curiosity, what gauge do you have in the center opening? Their fuel gauge? Would like to see the whole dash.

I checked all the connections and there is nothing that crossed or grounding out. Once the truck starts the gauge works like it’s supposed to, just on the wrong side of the gauge. I guess I will just have to wait until the manufacture opens on Monday.

The fuel gauge is on the bottom with the oil pressure. The center is where my high beam indicator and check engine lights are.

Nice looking set up! Somewhere inside that tachometer is a capacitor crying for its mommy.

I didn’t think about that. Is that something I can fix or is that from the factory?

It really is a nice set-up.

Contact NVU to see if they will repair. I really got my gauges shipped to me and the speedometer needle was knocked off in shipping. I contacted them and shipped them my speedo and they took care of the issue quickly.
I think I'll like them.

These gauges are awesome when you get them going. You’re going to love them.

Thanks for the tip about the company. I will definitely get in touch with them. I am sure they will take care of it.

Man, that looks even better in the dark! That's a factory fix, for electronics.

If they shipped it FEDEX Ground, I'm surprised it wasn't broken in half. I hope that FEDEX has a web crawler that looks at posts on the internet about their brutal delivery guys, but I'm betting that they don't care, what with all the cash flow.

I think the gauge you’re thinking of is a boost gauge. My fuel gauge is one of the small gauges on the bottom row.

It’s true, FEDEX is sometimes terrible, not as terrible as On Trac, those guys are the worst. But this set was delivered by UPS and it worked solidly for three weeks or so.

Off the subject, I was checking out NVU's website, on the main page as it scrolls through pics of different rides there's a pic of DeadheadNM's beautiful truck.

Killer Bee, it is a boost gauge for my Duramax build. Here is a better pic.

Re: NVU Tachometer running backwards

You have a programming button for that gauge, I am guessing. Be sure that it is set for 6 or 8 cylinders, whichever is correct.

I have a set of NVU gauges in my squarebody, the instructions are surprisingly lousy, particularly when it comes to programming.
